Loud snapping sounds are not usually good news when are driving.

But that’s what I heard on Tuesday when I was in the middle of traffic.

I moved the shift lever around and it was loose. I frantically tried to find a gear that I could use. I found third. It starts slow and goes up to about 55. The highway I use has a max speed of 75, so 55 isn’t enough for me

So I found my way to the car repair shop.

It turns out that I have a broken shifter cable, and this is what I was quoted:
